The biggest mistake people make when buying a budget inkjet printer is not checking the price of the printer cartridges. Just because a printer is cheap to buy doesn’t mean that it’s going to be cheap to run in terms of the cost of replacing the printer ink cartridges and this is true for most budget printers. The best budget printers are Epson not because the genuine ink cartridges are cheap however, the Epson S21 ink cartridges cost only 25% less than the printer itself but there are Epson compatible ink cartridges available for most Epson printers and they offer massive saving over the genuine inks and make Epson budget printer a very attractive proposition. This is also true for Brother printers but Brother only offer multi-functional inkjet printers which aren’t as cheap as Epson standard inkjet printers. Printers such as HP and Lexmark use a different design of cartridge which means the compatible inks are not as cheap as for Epson or Brother and most of the new budget Canon printer also use this type of cartridge as well. If you do a little research on the internet before buying a printer such as what cartridges does it takes, are there compatibles available for it and how much do they cost etc you should make the mistake that a lot people do and buy a printer where the cartridges cost more than the printers itself.
